Warm Lake breakdown

Warm Lake is 26 miles East of Cascade, Idaho. Easy lake to find. Well maintain campgrounds around the lake. Great camping spot for families. The fishing is perfect for training Daddy's little fishing buddies. Stocker trout run 6in up to 14in. They love power flotation bait, spinners, pretty much everything. Pretty much guaranteed a bite every cast...beware the trout are expert powerbait stealer's.

Lost Valley Reservoir breakdown

This reservoir is located between Council and Tamarack Sawmill. Only a few miles from New Meadows. The drive in is 3miles on a gravel road. The road loops around the lake.

Drug the wife up to this lake. Heard from a friend that it was basically the wildlife land of milk&honey and it lived up to its name. Unfortunately the 2 rugged campsites were closed due to clearing fallen trees and apparently everyone and their buddy wanted to camp there that day also. Drove into the area late evening looking for a camp spot and ended up setting up camp in the dark. The wife was real thrilled with me as she sat in the truck and watched me setup the tent. We had deer grazing by our tent all night long (wife thinks it was a bear everytime:) After a fairly sleepless night we awoke to realize we almost camped in an awesome meadow. We took an early morning hike passing numerous deer grazing within 100yrds.

Didn't get a chance to fish the lake too much. Beautiful, very large lake, has a stream out the tail end, supposedly some good stream fishing. Most of the pictures are of the stream.

*lots of campers/rvs rush to the lakes edge camping spots, defiantly not a quiet get-away unless you get away from the lake. not likely that i would ever go to this lake again unless someone tells me that there is gold there. ha

Heart Lake Breakdown 2008

This awesome lake is my favorite so far. Helps a little that I caught the biggest cutthroat trout of my life. The lake is located 20 miles south of Stanley, then take Left on Fourth of July Creek Rd., cruise up the gravel road 8 miles to an unmarked trailhead (wide spot marked with boulders) The hike in is a medium difficult 1.25 miler. (The hike out seems like a walk in the park). The lake sits at 8300 feet. Great camping spots around the lake. Plenty of shore for the fly fisherman and HUGE trout!!! Though some fishermen we met up there said the number of fish seems to be dwindling. Even so the bigones are BIG and with no wind blow water you can see them patrolling around.

Fishing Tips: trolling with wet fly, leech patterns, some guys said they had luck with eggs.

Just beyond the far side of the lake is a 500 foot climb over a small "mountain" which beyond is Six Lakes...didnt venture up to see them. They range about 2 miles farther. There are actually a whole slew of lakes around this area. Just Google Earth, Heart Lake, Idaho.

A very pretty lake, easy day hike adventure, most likely with see other hikers/fisherman on weekends.
